Our meeting with the Mayor
This afternoon Room Kowhai were thrilled to meet Gore's mayor Mr Tracey Hicks in person. Mr Hicks came in to discuss the qualities and attributes that makes a special leader. He outlined his roles and responsibilities within the Gore District Council and gave us some good advice to take with us in the future.
It was neat to be able to get a glimpse into the life of a mayor - he is an extremely busy man!! We were also given the opportunity to ask His Worship some questions about his role.
Thanks Mr Hicks for supporting our learning at East Gore (0:

Homework tasks
Check out these creative kids who have worked hard to present their town/city for homework. A special mention must go to Eve & Jordan who have a 3D model of their towns. They look cool ladies!
Britney's Smurf Town is fantastic. She has created her town for us to eat!! Chocolate, marshmellow, jelly and biscuits were used to make this funky town. Very cool - we love it!!

SCHOOL CONCERT
It was super cool to share our talents with our East Gore School community. Room Kowhai presented "Poi E" with singing and dancing. We also played the "London Bridge" on the xylophone. Our guitarist Michael Jones led us through this and he did a superb job. I must mention our school compere's Ebony & Britney who did a fantastic job of taking us through the concert. The senior boys entertained us with a spine-tingling rendition of the haka. A big Hi-5 to Matt who led his team with the pride of a fearsome warrior.
Well done everybody - you can be proud of your efforts!

Beautifying East Gore
Check us out planting Hebe trees as part of a recycling partnership between EGSchool & the Gore Pakehe Lions Club. We currently recycle paper which is processed and turned back into paper. This project is overseen by the Gore Pakehe Lions Club. We are lucky to have one of their members on our staff - thanks Mr Ken Scott for overseeing this valuable project.

First Aid training
On Thursday 15 September EGSchool kids were treated to a session from Jo the First Aid development officer who taught us basic CPR skills. She also outlined emergency procedures and how to apply basic first aid skills to patients.
This was a very interesting and informative session - you just never know when we may need these skills.
Thanks Jo (0:

2) It must be built here at school (friday 12 August)
3) You can ONLY use the following materials:
