First Aid training

On Thursday 15 September EGSchool kids were treated to a session from Jo the First Aid development officer who taught us basic CPR skills. She also outlined emergency procedures and how to apply basic first aid skills to patients.

This was a very interesting and informative session - you just never know when we may need these skills.

Thanks Jo (0:

Harold visits us

This week we have been lucky to have Harold & Pip visit us with their Life Education Truck. Room Kowhai learnt about certain bodily functions and the purpose of them in our digestive system.
It was cool to catch up with Harold again. All children have a workbook which will be coming home next week.

MUSIC FESTIVAL

Ka pai to these super duper awesome kids who represented East Gore with pride at the music festival held on Tuesday evening. The singing was fantastic and the audience was thrilled with a rendition of the Uklele Song.

Arabella

Today the children of East Gore School were entertained by Arabella Storyteller. She is a magical story teller who we enjoyed listening to this morning. Thanks for weaving your magic at East Gore. We look forward to seeing you again (0:

BP Technology challenge

Here's a really cool extension programme for our tech/science-y kids. We have entered 2 teams for the BP Technology challenge being held at Waianiwa on 30 August. If you are keen to trial for a spot on the teams you have a challenge of making a two tower structure which can support a heavy weight.

3 requirements:
1) It must be self-supporting (stand alone)
2) It must be built here at school (friday 12 August)
3) You can ONLY use the following materials:
* newspaper, sellotape (1 mtre), string (2mtrs), 6 rubber bands.

Get your creative hats on and have a trial run at home!

Term 3

Welcome in to our creative Term 3. This term our learning will focus around the music side of the curriculum. We will explore listening and appreciation skills sessions alongside the opportunity to play a musical instrument. Some of our students have been selected to perform in the up coming Music Festival which is very exciting. Mr Sutherland has the songs on his blog so get learning!!

It is great to be back at school and back in to learning (0:

Constable Graham

We welcomed Constable Graham in to share her knowledge on bullying as part of our Kia Kaha Health unit. We explore ideas including who or what makes a bully, the different types of bullying and text bullying - all relevant topics for our learners as they make their way to intermediate next year.
